Every kindy backpack in this collection is hand-embroidered with your child's name by me in Melbourne. Not a sticker. Not a heat press. Stitched — one letter at a time, on a bag that's built for the year ahead.
Which size for kindy?
Most kinder kids (3–5 years) do well with our Small backpack (32cm) — it's light, fits on small shoulders, and holds a change of clothes, lunchbox, drink bottle, and hat without dragging on the ground. If your child's kinder requires bedding, a library bag, or a full-size lunch bag, the Large (40cm) gives them the extra room without being overwhelming.
Not sure? The Small suits most daycare-to-kinder transitions. The Large is ideal if they're carrying more or you want a bag that'll last into prep.
Corduroy or gingham — both made for kindy life
Our corduroy kindy backpacks are 100% cotton, soft to touch, and hold their shape wash after wash. Choose from Blueberry, Chocolate, Strawberry, Grape, or Pear. The gingham range is a wipeable polyester composite — perfect for the child who treats their bag like a napkin, a seat cushion, and a rain hat all in one day. Available in Rainbow, Sunflower, or Blue.
Their name, front and centre
Every kindy backpack is embroidered with the name, font, and thread colour you choose. Their bag is unmistakably theirs — no more lost property dramas, no more accidentally taking someone else's home. Add an embroidered icon (stars, hearts, rainbows, animals) for an extra $10 each.

Built for the Kindy Run
Three zip compartments keep things separated — main section for clothes and bedding, front pocket for lunchbox, middle pocket for suncream and spare undies. Dual side pockets for drink bottles. Padded adjustable straps that actually stay put on wriggly shoulders. Water-resistant lining for the drink bottle that's never screwed on tight enough. Machine washable, because after a week of kinder, it'll need it.

What age are Weary Theory backpacks designed for?
Our backpacks are sized for the daycare-to-kinder years — roughly 1 to 6 years old. The small fits toddlers and light packers perfectly. The large suits bigger kids heading to kinder or preschool. Both sizes have adjustable straps that grow with your child.
Are your personalised backpacks embroidered or printed?
Embroidered — always. Every name is machine embroidered in our Melbourne studio by Steph. Not printed, not ironed on, not a sticker. Embroidery lasts through washing, sun, daily wear, and all the chaos of the daycare years.
Can I get a matching lunch bag?
Yes — we make matching personalised lunch bags in both corduroy and gingham, in the same colours as the backpacks. The lunch bag fits inside the large backpack for a one-bag daycare setup.
