Description
Why Choose a Personalised Corduroy Kids Backpack?
Our personalised corduroy backpack for kids is the one that started it all — and it's still the one parents come back for.Made from 100% cotton corduroy with a water-resistant lining, it's soft to touch, built to last, and embroidered with your child's name in our Melbourne studio. A personalised backpack designed for real daycare and kinder life 🎒
This is the bag that handles daycare, kinder, weekend adventures, and the occasional tantrum in the car park. It gets thrown around, stuffed full, dragged through puddles — and still looks good at pick-up.
Every name is embroidered to order by Steph — designed, digitised, and stitched on her own machine. No outsourcing. No bulk runs. Just your child's name, done properly.
And inside every bag? A hidden detail — you are so loved. Stitched in where only they'll find it.
Why Our Backpacks Stand Out:

🧴 Machine Washable & Water-Resistant Lined — 100% cotton corduroy on the outside, water-resistant lining on the inside. Throw it in the wash when it needs it. It comes back soft every time.

🧃 Room for Everything — Three zip sections and dual side pockets for drink bottles, snacks, spare clothes, or whatever treasures they've collected. Pair it with our matching personalised lunch bag — same corduroy, same colours, fits inside the large backpack. One bag, one hook, one name.
🎁 A Gift They'll Actually Use —First day at daycare. A birthday. A new sibling milestone. It's a personalised gift for kids that's practical, personal, and the kind of thing that gets a reaction.
Soft. Sturdy. Theirs.
Why Corduroy?
There's something about corduroy. It's textured and warm and it looks better the more it's loved — a bit like the kids carrying it.
Our corduroy personalised kids backpack is made from 100% cotton with a soft ribbed finish that feels substantial without being heavy. It's the kind of fabric that photographs beautifully, holds its shape, and still feels cosy when your three-year-old hugs it to their chest in the car on the way home.
The water-resistant lining means spills inside the bag don't soak through. And when the whole thing needs a proper clean — cold wash, gentle cycle, air dry. Done.
Available in five colours - designed for boys and girls alike: Blueberry, Chocolate, Strawberry, Grape, and Pear.
Corduroy or Gingham — Which One's Right?
We get asked this a lot. Here's the honest answer.
Corduroy is soft, textured, and made from 100% cotton. It has that classic, cosy feel — the kind of bag people touch and say oh, that's lovely. Water-resistant lining on the inside, fully machine washable. If you love texture and warmth, this is the one.
Gingham is wipeable polyester composite — meaning you can clean marks off the outside with a damp cloth without doing a full wash. It's the practical powerhouse for the toddler years when yoghurt, mud, and mystery substances are a daily event.
Both have the same structure, same sizing, same embroidery options. Same hidden you are so loved inside. It really just comes down to what feels right when you picture your child wearing it.

Common Questions
What size personalised backpack should I get for daycare?
Our small backpack (32cm H × 25cm W) is the one most parents choose for daycare. It fits a drink bottle, spare clothes, and a comfort toy — without being so big that it drags on the ground. The large (40cm H × 32cm W) suits bigger kids or heavier packers as it also fits the lunch bag comfortably — some parents use it as a nappy bag replacement too. Both sizes have the same three zip sections, dual side pockets, and adjustable padded straps.
What's the difference between the corduroy and gingham backpacks?
The corduroy is 100% cotton with a soft ribbed texture — it's warm, cosy, and machine washable with water-resistant lining on the inside. The gingham is a wipeable polyester composite — you can wipe marks off the outside with a damp cloth without a full wash. Same structure, same sizing, same embroidery quality. It comes down to what feel and care routine you prefer. Both have the hidden "you are so loved" detail inside.
How do I care for my personalised backpack?
It depends on the material. Both backpacks are fully machine washable — cold wash, gentle cycle, air dry. The embroidery holds up beautifully through the wash. Our gingham backpacks are wipeable — just use a damp cloth on the outside for everyday mess.
Before popping it in the machine, make sure to zip up all the zips and turn your bag inside out. Use a cold, gentle cycle and always dry the bag in the shade to help maintain its shape and colour.
Please avoid using hot water, bleach, or a tumble dryer, as these can damage the fabric and finish. Never leave the backpack unzipped during the wash, as this can cause pulling or tearing. It's also best to avoid machines with agitators, which may be too harsh.
Where possible, we suggest spot cleaning to prolong the life of your backpack.
How long does personalisation take?
Every name is embroidered to order in our Melbourne studio — please allow 5–7 business days for personalisation, plus shipping time. If you need it faster, select express at checkout and we'll prioritise your order. You'll get a tracking number as soon as it's dispatched via Australia Post.
What's the difference between the small and large backpack?
The small (32cm H × 25cm W) is designed for toddlers and light packers — it's the most popular for daycare.
The large (40cm H × 32cm W) gives extra room for kinder, preschool, or kids who need to pack bedding, lunchboxes, or extra layers.
Both sizes have three zip sections, dual side pockets, adjustable padded straps, and water-resistant lining.
Do you ship to New Zealand and the USA?
Yes — we ship to Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. Australian orders ship via Australia Post. International shipping options and costs are shown at checkout. Please allow extra transit time for international deliveries.
Can I get a matching lunch bag?
Yes — we make matching personalised lunch bags in both corduroy and gingham, in the same colours as the backpacks. The lunch bag fits inside the large backpack for a one-bag kinder setup. You can also save with our Ultimate Bundle (backpack + lunch bag + cap + name stamp).
What's your return policy?
Every Weary Theory product is made to order with your child's name — which means we can't accept change-of-mind returns on personalised items. Please double-check your spelling, colour, and font choices before ordering.
